How to use our Kg to Pounds Converter

- Use a decimal point for part of a kilogram, such as 72.5. You can also add a "kg" suffix.

Definitions
Kilogram (kg): A metric unit of mass. This is the amount entered into the converter.
Pound (lb): A US customary unit of mass. One international avoirdupois pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms.
Decimal pounds: A pound amount written with a decimal, such as 5.5 lb. The digits after the decimal are part of a pound, not an ounce count.
Ounce (oz): A smaller avoirdupois mass unit. There are 16 ounces in one pound.
Whole-pound part: The number of complete pounds before the remaining fraction is converted to ounces.
Common mistakes and quick fixes
Mistake: Entering a pound value in the "Kilograms (kg)" field.
Fix: Enter the original kilogram measurement. This converter only changes kilograms to pounds.
Mistake: Reading 5.5 lb as 5 lb 5 oz.
Fix: Read the separate whole-pound and ounce values for a mixed-unit amount. The.5 in 5.5 lb equals 8 oz.
Mistake: Typing 1,01 to mean one and one-hundredth kilograms.
Fix: Use a decimal point: 1.01. Commas are only for thousands grouping, such as 1,000.
Mistake: Entering a negative mass.
Fix: Enter zero or a positive kilogram amount. Negative values are outside this converter's input range.
Mistake: Thinking fewer displayed decimal places change the conversion.
Fix: "Result decimal places" changes screen rounding only. The conversion is calculated before rounding.

- Enter one finite value that is zero or greater. Blank values, negative values, ranges, formulas, pounds, and ounces are rejected.
- The pounds-and-ounces reading is the same mass expressed in mixed units. Do not read it as a decimal-pound value.
- Changing "Result decimal places" changes displayed rounding only, not the underlying conversion.
