How to use our Meters to Feet Converter

Definitions

Conversion method
One foot is exactly 0.3048 meter.
decimal feet = meters / 0.3048
The converter keeps the full calculated value until it formats the displayed result.
Feet-and-inches method
It takes the whole-foot part first, then changes the leftover part of a foot into inches. There are exactly 12 inches in 1 foot.
whole feet = floor(decimal feet)
remaining inches = (decimal feet - whole feet) * 12
Worked example
For 2.5 m, divide 2.5 by 0.3048 to get 8.2020997375 ft. The whole-foot part is 8 ft. The remaining 0.2020997375 ft times 12 is 2.42519685 in, giving about 8 ft 2.425 in before display rounding.
