Mistake: Typing text or a unit word in Months, like 2 months.
Fix: Put only the number in Months, such as 2 or 2.5.
Mistake: Ignoring Month length to use and assuming every month is the same.
Fix: Pick Average Gregorian month, 30-day month, 31-day month, or 28-day month to match your task.
Mistake: Reading Converted time as an exact calendar-date count.

Mistake: Setting Decimal places to 0 and thinking the rounded Converted time is the full precise value.
Fix: Increase Decimal places when you need a spreadsheet-style answer.
Mistake: Turning Show leftover time off and missing Whole months, Leftover days, Leftover hours, and Leftover minutes.
Fix: Turn Show leftover time on when you want a plain-language breakdown.
Limitations & Key Assumptions / Boundary Conditions
- This converter does not count real calendar dates. A date-based deadline needs a start date and calendar rules.
- The Average Gregorian month option uses 30.436875 days, which is 365.2425 days divided by 12 months.
- The 30-day, 31-day, and 28-day options treat every month as that exact length.
- Leftover days use 24-hour days, and leftover hours use 60-minute hours.
- Decimal places change only the displayed Converted time. Internal leftover-time math is kept precise.
- Negative time amounts are not accepted because this tool converts duration lengths, not time differences.
Methodology
How the conversion factor is chosen
The calculator first turns the Month length to use choice into Minutes per month used. The average Gregorian option is based on a 365.2425-day Gregorian year divided by 12 months [1].
minutes_per_month = (365.2425 / 12) * 24 * 60 = 43829.1
For a fixed-day month, the selected day count is multiplied by 24 hours per day and 60 minutes per hour.
minutes_per_month = month_days * 24 * 60
Minutes to months
When Convert direction is Minutes to months, the entered Minutes value is divided by Minutes per month used.
months = minutes / minutes_per_month
If Show leftover time is on, the calculator removes complete selected months first, then breaks the remaining minutes into 24-hour days, hours, and minutes.
whole_months = floor(minutes / minutes_per_month)
leftover_minutes_total = minutes - whole_months * minutes_per_month
leftover_days = floor(leftover_minutes_total / 1440)
leftover_hours = floor((leftover_minutes_total - leftover_days * 1440) / 60)
leftover_minutes = leftover_minutes_total - leftover_days * 1440 - leftover_hours * 60
Months to minutes
When Convert direction is Months to minutes, the entered Months value is multiplied by Minutes per month used. Decimal months are allowed.
minutes = months * minutes_per_month
Mini-example
With 100000 Minutes and Average Gregorian month selected, Minutes per month used is 43829.1. The main calculation is:
100000 / 43829.1 = 2.281589 months
The leftover breakdown uses the unrounded value: 2 whole months, then 12341.8 minutes left, which is 8 days, 13 hours, and 41.8 minutes.
