How to use our mL to Quarts Converter
- Enter the volume from your recipe, container, label, or measurement in Amount to convert (mL).
- Click Calculate to see the equivalent Volume in US liquid quarts.
- For a dry-goods or non-US source, open Advanced options and set Show other quart types to Yes.
- Check that the quart type in the result label matches the source. Use more Result decimal places if a small positive amount appears as 0.

Definitions
Milliliter (mL): A metric unit of volume. One liter equals 1,000 mL.
US liquid quart: A US unit for liquid volume. This is the calculator's main answer.
US dry quart: A US dry-volume unit. It is larger than a US liquid quart.
Imperial quart: A volume unit in the Imperial system. It is larger than either US quart type.
Decimal places: Digits shown after the decimal point. Changing them changes the displayed rounding, not the conversion itself.
Common mistakes and quick fixes
Mistake: Entering a negative value in Amount to convert (mL).
Fix: Enter 0 mL or a positive volume. Zero is valid, but this converter does not use negative volumes.
Mistake: Typing a malformed number such as 1,00.
Fix: Check Amount to convert (mL) and then recalculate. Use commas only for thousands, such as 1,000. Use a decimal point for fractions, such as 1.5.
Mistake: Using the US liquid quart answer for a US dry or Imperial source.
Fix: Set Show other quart types to Yes, then use the answer with the matching quart label.
Mistake: Treating a displayed 0 US liquid qt as no volume.
Fix: Increase Result decimal places. A small positive mL amount can round to 0 when few decimals are shown.
Mistake: Assuming a quart is one quarter of a liter.
Fix: Check Amount to convert (mL) and then recalculate. A quart is one quarter of a gallon. Enter the mL amount as written and use the converted quart value.
Limitations & Key Assumptions / Boundary Conditions
- The first answer is in US liquid quarts. Use the comparison results only when the original source specifically means a US dry or Imperial quart.
- This converter changes volume units only. It cannot convert mL to weight because weight depends on the material's density.
- Results are rounded to the selected number of decimal places, although the calculation uses the unrounded converted value.
- A label, recipe, or measuring tool may have its own rounding rule. Follow that source when a precise measurement is required.
Methodology
Conversion method
The calculator divides the entered milliliters by the number of milliliters in the chosen quart system. The main answer uses 946.352946 mL per US liquid quart. The optional comparison uses 1,101.220942715 mL per US dry quart and 1,136.5225 mL per Imperial quart.
US liquid qt = mL / 946.352946
US dry qt = mL / 1101.220942715
Imperial qt = mL / 1136.5225
Worked example
For 1,000 mL, divide 1,000 by 946.352946. This gives about 1.056688 US liquid qt. For the same amount in Imperial quarts, divide 1,000 by 1,136.5225 to get about 0.879877 Imperial qt.
Input handling
The calculator accepts nonnegative decimal amounts, a matching mL suffix, and normal thousands separators such as 1,000. Zero mL converts to zero quarts. The selected decimal places change only how the result is displayed.
