Methodology
How the conversion works
The calculator starts with Area value and uses the unit chosen in Convert from. It then converts that same area into the target unit, square meters, and acres.

Why those numbers are used
A hectare is defined as 10,000 square meters [1]. A square foot converts to 0.09290304 square meters, so square feet can be changed to hectares by dividing by 10,000 after converting to square meters. The hectare-to-square-foot factor is the reciprocal of the square-foot-to-hectare factor.
Mini example
If Area value is 10,000 and Convert from is square feet, the calculator multiplies by 0.000009290304.
ha = 10000 * 0.000009290304 = 0.09290304
It also computes square meters and acres for a quick check.
m2 = 10000 * 0.09290304 = 929.0304
acres = 10000 / 43560 = 0.2295684114
So 10,000 square feet is about 0.092903 hectares, 929.0304 square meters, and 0.229568 acres.
Rounding and display
Decimal places changes how the main converted result is shown on screen. Internal math should keep more precision than the displayed result so the supporting outputs stay consistent. For very small hectare values, a higher decimal setting makes the answer easier to read.
Assumptions used
This method assumes standard modern area definitions and converts only by unit factors. It does not account for surveying practice, map projection, parcel irregularity, or legal description differences. It also assumes the entered number is already an area, not a one-dimensional length.
