- The result depends on the Gallon system you choose. US and Imperial gallons are not the same size, so picking the wrong system changes the answer.
- The comparison output appears only in fluid-ounces-to-gallons mode. In gallons-to-fluid-ounces mode, there is no single fair cross-system comparison without changing the starting unit assumption.
- The tool allows zero and negative numbers as math conversions. Negative values can be useful for checking change or signed differences, but they may not make sense for real liquid amounts.
- Very large values are formatted for readability, so the display may round tiny decimal places even though the underlying conversion follows the stated ratio.

What ratio is used
If you pick US gallon, the calculator uses 128 fluid ounces per gallon. If you pick Imperial gallon, it uses 160 fluid ounces per gallon. That is why the same ounce value can produce different gallon answers.
Mini example
If Amount to convert (fl oz) is 128, Convert is set to fluid ounces to gallons, and Gallon system is US gallon, then the result is 1 gallon.
128 / 128 = 1
If the same 128 fluid ounces are checked against the Imperial system for comparison, the result is 0.8 gallons.

How to read the comparison result
