How to use our Square Feet to Square Centimeters Converter
- Choose What do you have? based on your measurement: Area in square feet or Length and width in feet.
- Enter Area (square feet), or enter Length (feet) and Width (feet) if you chose the length-and-width mode.
- Open Advanced options only if you want to change Round answer to or turn on Also show square meters?.
- Click Calculate and read Area in square centimeters first, then check Square feet used to make sure the converter used the area you meant.
- Sanity-check the answer: 1 square foot should give 929.0304 square centimeters before rounding, and 2 square feet should be twice as much.

Definitions
Square foot: An area unit equal to a square that is 1 foot long and 1 foot wide.
Square centimeter: An area unit equal to a square that is 1 centimeter long and 1 centimeter wide.
Conversion factor: The number used to change one unit into another. This converter uses 929.0304 square centimeters per square foot.
Decimal places: The number of digits shown after the decimal point. Rounding changes the displayed answer, not the exact multiplication.
Square meters: A metric area unit. The optional Same area in square meters result can make very large square-centimeter answers easier to picture.
Common mistakes and quick fixes
Mistake: Typing a length into Area (square feet) instead of an area.
Fix: If you measured two sides, choose What do you have? as Length and width in feet, then fill in Length (feet) and Width (feet).
Mistake: Leaving Length (feet) or Width (feet) blank in length-and-width mode.
Fix: Enter a number in both fields, even if one side is 0 for a zero-area check.
Mistake: Entering a negative value in Area (square feet), Length (feet), or Width (feet).
Fix: Use 0 or a positive number because a physical area cannot be negative.
Mistake: Thinking Round answer to changes the conversion factor.
Fix: Use Round answer to only for display; Conversion factor used stays 929.0304 square centimeters per square foot.
Mistake: Forgetting that Same area in square meters is optional.
Fix: Set Also show square meters? to Yes only when you want that size check.
Limitations & Key Assumptions / Boundary Conditions
- The converter uses the international foot, where 1 foot equals 0.3048 meter, not the old U.S. survey foot.
- Length (feet) and Width (feet) are multiplied as a rectangle. Irregular shapes need their area found another way before converting.
- Rounding is applied only after the exact area conversion. Different Round answer to choices can display different last digits.
- Zero is allowed and returns 0 square centimeters. Negative area, length, or width values are blocked.
- Very large inputs are formatted with commas, but the result is still only as useful as the measurement you entered.
- If Also show square meters? is set to No, the Same area in square meters output is omitted instead of shown as N/A.
Methodology
How the conversion works
The converter first decides which source area to use. In area mode, Square feet used is the Area (square feet) you entered. In length-and-width mode, Square feet used is Length (feet) times Width (feet).
area_sqft = length_ft * width_ft
It then multiplies the square-foot area by the exact square-foot to square-centimeter factor.
area_sqcm = area_sqft * 929.0304
The factor comes from converting feet to centimeters first. Since area is two-dimensional, the length conversion is squared.
1 ft = 30.48 cm
1 sq ft = 30.48 cm * 30.48 cm = 929.0304 sq cm
If Same area in square meters is turned on, the converter also uses this check value.
area_sqm = area_sqft * 0.09290304
Worked mini-example
If Length (feet) is 2 and Width (feet) is 3, the area is 6 square feet.
6 * 929.0304 = 5574.1824 sq cm
With Round answer to set to 4 decimal places, Area in square centimeters is shown as 5,574.1824 square centimeters. With Round answer to set to 2 decimal places, the same exact result is shown as 5,574.18 square centimeters.
Input handling
Commas and spaces are removed before reading numbers, so 1,200 and 1200 are treated the same. Blank values, non-numeric text, and negative values are rejected. Hidden mode inputs are ignored, so Area (square feet) does not affect a length-and-width calculation.
